Default Dakota Rat Rod

Hi all
I live Up here in Canada so I will convert stuff so ya all can understand it easier EH. I purchased a 2003 Dakota 4.7, 287ci 4X4 with 150,000 miles on it for $1500 USD 4 years ago. It now has 220,000 miles on it. I'm on my third rearend, second Transfer case, Clutch pressure plate and flywheel, water pump, Alternator, ball joints, Discs and calipers all around.

I drive it every day.I LOVE the looks of this truck, I LOVE the handling of it, I like the power.
I want to keep it forever. I do most of the work myself.

I am planning to Rat Rod it out.
I am looking at a Modded 318 magnum or a 1977 360 with 4 barrel and I am wondering if either one will bolt up to the 5 speed standard that is hooked up to my stock 4.7? Is there an old Mopar small block that will fit this tranny?

I want to get rid of the electronics. I want to keep the 4X4 but not for heavy off roading.

Any suggestions?
I need help I am still in the planning stage and collecting up the parts.
I have a 2001 4x4 V6 parts truck already.

Bill
